Do you feel sad or hopeless, and wonder if you will ever feel happy again?
- Does your day-to-day life make you feel exhausted?
- Do you often say things you do not mean or make decisions that are not good for you because you feel depressed?
- Perhaps you have experienced the physical symptoms of depression, such as exhaustion, lethargy, digestive issues, back pain and headaches.
- Do you wish you could feel happier and have more peace in your life?
If you are overwhelmed with feelings of sadness, you may not know what is happening to you. It’s possible that you have started to question the purpose, direction or meaning of your life. Even though you interact with others throughout the day, you may still feel empty and lonely inside and out. It may take all the effort and energy you have just to complete the smallest tasks like household chores. Even when your friends ask you for a favor, you may not have the energy or desire to help because you feel dragged down by the burden of your sadness.
You Are Not Alone With Feelings Of Sadness
One out of every ten Americans struggles with depression symptoms. While this is a common ailment, there are many causes for depression such as a crisis or painful event, a major life transition, a biological predisposition, trauma or a significant loss. In our culture today, we lead very stressful lives and it’s difficult to find the time to enjoy life, find meaning and cultivate relationships with people who care for us. Instead, we may find ourselves under constant pressure to perform, to be perfect or fulfill unspoken expectations. We may often lose ourselves and feel lost, alone and disconnected from our own life experiences. The good news is that depression treatment can help you find a way to reconnect with yourself and experience the joy in life once again.
Build A Path Toward Happiness And Peace With Depression Treatment
During compassionate and non-judgmental depression treatment sessions, you and I will tailor an individualized plan, using both the Somatic Experiencing® approach and traditional talk therapy, to relieve you of the burden of sadness and other negative emotions.
With the help of the cutting edge Somatic Experiencing® approach, we will incorporate what you think, how you feel and what you experience in your body in depression treatment sessions. By bridging the gap between the mind and the body, you can learn how to listen to your head and your heart in order to find your path to peace.
To help you tune into your body with Somatic Experiencing®, I may ask you a series of questions about your bodily sensations. Then, we can begin a dialog with your body’s inner wisdom. When you work with your body awareness during a session, you can learn the skill of tracking physical sensations so that you can listen to your internal process and ultimately achieve a positive and calm state of mind.
I will also work with you and combine other approaches as needed like EMDR Therapy, Attachment Therapy, Craniosacral Therapy, Mindfulness Therapy and traditional talk therapy to support your healing process. In order to provide the best depression treatment possible, our sessions may start out working with one modality and end up with a different one depending upon your needs – a major benefit of working with an integrative therapy model. The more we work through the depression treatment process, you will have the chance to gain greater control and a deeper understanding of your mind/body experience.
I bring 25 years of experience to my depression treatment sessions, having been trained both as a psychotherapist and body worker for many years. I offer the flexibility of meeting in person or online services to accommodate your needs and lifestyle. I’ve supported many people who experience depression and have witnessed the power of the mind/body connection in my clients’ positive transformations.
Even though your pain may feel inescapable, you always have hope for healing. With depression treatment and our different healing modalities, you can remove the burden of sadness and start living a joyful and meaningful life.
You may be interested in depression treatment, but you still may have some questions and concerns…
I’ve been to therapy and I don’t want to revisit the past.
We don’t need to revisit the past, especially when we work with the Somatic Experiencing approach. During depression treatment, we will instead focus on understanding your triggers to depressed thought patterns. In addition, as you deeply listen to the energy through your body, you can begin to gain insight about how you struggle and how to cope.
Peter Levine, who created Somatic Experiencing, said, “Stress is not in the event, it’s in the nervous system.” The nervous system is energy and when we listen to this by tuning into the body, it changes one’s perception. This supports the healing process. If your past comes up during our sessions, it may only be in the context of the present and the struggles that you want to resolve today. Past patterns often teach us about present day occurrences that are beneficial and necessary for our growth, our healing and our freedom.
I’ve heard depression treatment can cost me a lot of time, money and energy.
Depression treatment does not need to be a long process because the modalities like EMDR and Somatic Experiencing can help facilitate your healing on many levels, often allowing you to move through your issues, find resolution and joy in your life. My goal as a therapist is to be a catalyst for your healing process so you experience the freedom of feeling balanced quickly. After every session, we will talk about what was helpful and the tools and skills you need to support the change you want to see in yourself. You always have the option to come back to work with me to resolve a new issue or to further refine the healing process.
